Follow by a High-Tea at nearby Leisure resort 青山露營區。

 

Suzanne “Let’s meet

Suzanne officially open her Makan shop on May 21, 2022 on a beautiful Saturday. Guest of HK our is Mr. Yip from SG Trade Office.

Doreen Ng and Cindy are very nice to organise fellow Singaporeans to send Suzanne bouquets of flower for her shop grand opening. 

KC birthday on May 10, 2022

Hoon actually contacted Doreen Ng in Singapore for MingKai's contact and specially ordered the birthday to be deliver to me on May 10th. Make whatsapp call to Hwei and Hoon in the evening and catch up with latest happenings back home. Great to hear all are well back home. Misses you all.

May 2022 Video calls

COVID has disrupted all travelling and social gathering with families and friends. Video call using Zoom or Google Meet is perhaps not perfect but an useful tools allowing people to meet virtually with ease.

For the month of May 2022, Hwei has link up with me while visiting 3rd Auntie living at Redhill. Happy to see she is happy and healthy. 

Also, we managed to arrange a Google meet for high tea with fellow Singaporeans living in Taiwan. It s a different experience gossiping online, hahaha . With Janny still quarantine in hotel travelling back from Singapore.

Date at Hyatt Hotel cafe for breakfast

Thanks Jeslyn Chua for the 50% discount voucher at Hyatt Hotel. Met up with GohLeeEng and Janny Koh for a cozy meal at Hyatt Cafe. Foods are reasonable good but the company is great. Follow by a visit at Costco Neihu.

An after-thought on the colour combination. 把不同的好東西湊在一起，將會把他們變成「無敵」更優秀的人們。

Suggested equipments: Comfortable shoes with good grip, water, hiking sticks, hats, umbrella.

Makan Meet at BG place

Very nice of Constance and BG always thinking of us and invited us two for the makan party at their place. Pickup WuLeeEng on the way and met new friend Ann-Marie and Jun for the first time.

So touch that BG specially takes time rushing to do marketing for 刮包. The 包 itself is tasty, plus the specially selected pork. Somemore can also TaBao home too.

 

Year 2022/2/28 Hiking trip

Dated a group of Singaporeans friends with their family for a hiking trip at 翠山步道 at 中社路二段。 We met at 9am on a Taiwan’s public holiday 228 with 20adults and kids. The leisure walks takes about 2 hours with two rest stops. Followed with lunching at a restuarant name 山農小吃, which Janny has helped to coordinated for the best deal.

Personally, the soup is the best and had a few extra bowl. Constance said the meal ball named as 黃金餅 sound interesting and easy to remember. I think everyone love this dish that came last on the meal list. Good choice.

 

Year 2022 Chinese New Year visitation

CNY house visit by Janny, WuLeeEng, Constance and BG. Thank you for bringing the Hokkien mee from Suzanne’s newly open store at 忠孝東路。Very delicious and it taste like home.

 

Singapore Round Island Route

First announced in 2012, the Round Island Route will be the longest recreational connection that loops the island when completed. It is also part of NParks’ overall plans to curate a 360km islandwide network of recreational routes, consisting of eight different trails, by 2035. 

Christmas 2021 at Constance

Thanks BG and Constance for inviting us snd fellow friends to their house for BBQ. WuLeeEng came very early to help out with BBQ stick of satay. Looking at the restaurant style setup with tables and chair, must have taken them huge effort to get prepared.

People are kind enough to bring goodies for the occasion, we have fruit cake, Christmas tower puff cake, charxiubao, cheery fruit, lots of liquid and wine, maoshan durian, mini-oranges and most of a full size turkey set for the special occasion. 

 

Sandy & Zac return to SG 11/11

Meet up with Sandy and Zac, went for a simple lunch at 鬍鬚張。Thereafter, travel to TamShui for them to say good bye to MK. Touching moment and friendship.

Received a request from MK saying he will Singapore TV is shooting a documentary about Singaporean living in Taiwan. He shall need to gather Singaporeans to organise an outdoor or Potluck event to fill the shooting scene. After discussion, cycling the best option and decided on Taiwan double ten day.

We end the day by meeting at Constance place for a potluck party. Janny is kind enough to source for the Asian foods from Mr,Chee and MIT. Plus cook foods from fellow Singaporeans.

 

Heard the TV programme will be shown next year 2022 in March period.

NDP 2021 - Singa club @ Taiwan

 

Event: Together our Singapore Spirit, NDP 56th - Makan Gathering

Date: Saturday, August 21^st, 2021

Time:  5.30pm to 8.30pm

Location: Sunny Day Cafe & Bistro 天晴好日咖啡餐館 , New Taipei City, Taiwan

Description of the event day:-

Singaporeans in Taiwan used to meet up for meal and be connected. COVID-19 since year 2019 has made it much difficult. Thus, it’s a relieve the Taiwan Government recently downgraded the Circuit Breaker by allowing indoor function of maximum 50person. We have a turnout of 32 guests, which is comfortable for safety control. Guests including, Singaporeans job posting in Taiwan, Students, Families and Children.

Most importantly, choosing a restaurant with menu including, Char Kway Teow and Horfun to satisfy the makan culture of fellow Singaporeans. We have a choice to order drinks, including milo dinosaur, which might just one day become a Singapore iconic drink just like “SG SLING”. The highlight of the event is perhaps singing to the tune of Singapore National Anthem, watching the whole NDP 2021 party on live telecast together.  Taiwanese present mentioned, that they are always touched by the Singaporeans action and showing their respect by standing to attention and people moving the lips to the tunes naturally.

We appreciate the many Singaporean business entities sponsoring us with lucky draw gift items, which bring much joy to all guests by bringing home familiar stuffs like Tea Tarik, Pandan cake, Salted Egg Chip, Curry paste and BaKuTeh pack, Pound cake, Pineapple tart,  XO sauce, OTAK, Singapore Sling Cocktail, Chili sauce pack, Meal voucher and Wooden coaster.
