Organic Farm visit@NanGang,Taipei City - Organised by Doreen

Very nice of Doreen to organised an outing for fellow Singaporea@Taiwan. There are even people coming all the way from TaiChung and HsinChu area. All goes very well, except for the slight wet weather. Met for pickup at NangGang MRT station by bus to the Farm somewhere at NanGang.
There were two separate groups of visitor, local Taiwanese and the Singaporean in Taiwan. The organic farm is located in NanGang mountain, very much accessible from Taipei City. The day started well until the rain join the party. The shoe are all muddy and very heavily struck with thick muds, walking is tough, it reminded me of the Army days digging Fox trench.
The Soil is already prepared by the Farmer. All city dwellers just need to plant the seeding plant onto the soil. Preferrably in straight roll and properly spaced, obviously a difficult task for us. Anyway, the job is done and the reward is plugging the vegetable for lunch. We had a few bundle of it.
Here is the address.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afKs8FZSVos

這故事是有志者,事竟成,破釜沉舟,百二秦關終屬楚;

2014 August 8 - Trip back home@SG

Make effort to travel back home to Singapore to visit Family and friends. It is very emotional to me at times and quite difficult to explain the feeling to others. Make extra efforts to re-engage the missing links, due breaking contact for a period of time is enormous. Updating each and every members of the family and related love one. Always remember to visit Mother at her resting place and wished she is happy always.
Having a simple meal at 2nd Auntie's place is very emotional at times, seeing her reminded me about Mother. I missed her !

Singapore #17 water DAM

Location at northern end of Singapore, near Puggol but called "Serangoon East Dam". Near to the site of Waste dumping ground. Singapore quest for drinking water and be self-sufficient is encouraging. I felt such progress in a way stablised the relationship with our neighbour. Its good to have a government which is forward looking and plan many years ahead. One somehow didn't realuse its benefits. Only time can tells.

Perth Trip, February 2014

With the launch of the Scoot Airlines, which has daytime flight schedule. Flying has entered another leap, no more early morning or night flight with Jetstar. We take then long CNY holiday to make a trip to Perth city. The trip was memorable in another way, having cold all the way.
Both of us are not expert of wine, visiting winery is less of a fun. However, free wine is good. The next time, we should only visit those winery that has guide tour.

Visiting Australian-style of National Park, the cave. Entrance charge is quite expensive, if once compared with almost free entrance for Taiwan National Park. The park ranger is very friendly and we have a nice time talking to them and know a little more history about caving.
One of the nicest picture for the trip with the Helmet and high-power touch. The cave has proper wooden linkway, but its in total darkest. We try switching off the light for a while, it quite frightening.

Eating out is quite expensive, heard the Western Australian has a higher living standard as compared to Eastern part. WA main income comes from Mining industry. Thus, we chose the cheaper option, EAT-IN. The supermarket pricing is quite affordable and cooking is pretty convenient. The cabin we rented has all the cooking equipment and its just beside the river.

Book: LKY One man' view"

Finished reading LKY book about his view of the world, excluding some continents that is non-relevant to Singapore's context, like Lantin America and African countries. Having follows Singapore's development through the years, since I have interest and knowledge about current affairs. I have the opportunity to make comparsion the improvement in living standard from Kampong Atap houses to beautiful HDB estate. Off course one will missed the fun of kampung freedom of space and standing on solid ground. Facing the fact, landed property is not within my reach. I believe SG Govenment responsibility of providing descent living condition for it's citizens. Having travel to foreign countries, it is comparatively very comfortable HDB living.
Yes, the ability to speak the local languages plays a very important part in the quest for connection. He mentioned his Indian staff ability to speak local language and carrying the posture of higher class member got a better privilages. Surprise to know he still carrying on with his Chinese lesson, he said , it keeps his mind working. I think he also hinted language should starts from young and I do think so too. So difficult to pick up another language myself (average IQ person), age catching up.

Diamond Head @ Hawaii , August 2013.

Visiting Hawaii for the first time, only to realised its a group of island and Honolulu being on Oahu where the airplane landed. This island is where famous Wakiki beaches is located. Why Surf is so popular? simply the beaches is just to the city line and also where hotels with thousand of rooms filled the coastline. You cannot find 7-11 stores along Wakiki but it seem "conquested" by another chain ABC stores, known to have 56 stores in Wakiki area. Funny you can't find any outside the city, just only 7-11 stores. Guess they have demarcation of business areas.
Took the bus number 23 and stopped beneath the Diamond Head Volcano mountain. Look like they have drilled a tunnel through the volcano wall. Once you walk through the tunnel, one is actually inside the crater of the volcano. After paying the US$1 entrance fee, you head up the trail to the peak overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, I met two family groups from Taiwan too.
Reaching the peak, I came to realised it is actually a war emplacement with dug-in fortification, though no guns or artillery equipments.

The view overlooking Wakiki joining the Pacific Ocean is just fantastic with clear sky all round. Not forgetting to covered myself against sunburn.

GOPRO Video on the peak, Diamond Head @ Hawaii :   http://youtu.be/HhJzQLHM-b8

Wakiki beaches fronting Mariott hotel.

The Sunset at Hawaii is great. Sit down by the beaches and enjoy the quiet moment when it goes down the horizon. Coconut in the foreground always. Funny there isn't obvious coconut drink stores around.

Pulau Ubin, rustic part of Singapore city state.

Time is always moving, but memory of yesterday is becoming more vivid and one misses the good time during younger time. Time were the days when you finished school, playtime started with LaYang (kite flying) and playing with non-technological stuffs (like TOPPING and MARBLE simply "off-theshelf" type of games).
Remembering the house we I borned at Farrer Road. Still can remember the house number is "69". The roof is ZINC-roof and somehow it is design to expand as family gets married and has its own family. The rooms are inter-connected and each managing their own Kitchen.
Pulau Ubin would be kept in its rustic state "for as long as possible, to serve as an outdoor playground for Singaporeans". That what the government has declared recently on newspaper. Its the last "frontier" of olden Singapore kumpung-style.
Will find time to re-visit Pulau Ubin for bicycling trip.
