Thanks for the warm hospitality and wonderful recommendations. We enjoyed Taipei very much.The skin doctor at Zhongshan turned out to be indeed fruitful trip. Sean and James skin condition has improved and all his rashes more or less cleared. The creams that she prescribed were very effective! She even prescribed an off the counter acid cream for my face pigmentation. We visited the National Palace Musuem, Sun Yat Sen Memorial, Taipei 101,YangMingShan and also had a hot springs bath soak at XinYi Road. The Shida Night Market was my shopping crawl for the last 2 nights till midnight whilst the boys and Khim enjoyed watching TV at the hotel. We will definitely make a revisit during spring or winter to enjoy cooler climate and more beautiful scenery.

National Day Rally, Singapore Year 2011
On the 46th birthday of Singapore as a independent country. Listening to PM Lee National Day Rally 2011 over the internet with full HD images is a great moment for me. Thank you for bringing Singapore to the first world country standard, having a Singapore reputation and brand image that command respect especially when you are oversea. Though there are complaints here and there, but Singaporean are proud of their nation overall. Ability to speaks Global languages (English and Chinese) and exposure to international community helps in my survival in a foreign land. Thank you.
It's always enlightening to hear what our nation leader has to say about Singapore. It's past experience, current issues and future direction, where our leader are leading SG to.
Having missed past National day rally when LKY speaks in Hokkien, and now his son speaking in three languages (Malay, Mardarin and English in almost one and half hour long speech). Yes, I have finished the "The Hard Truth" book by Mr.LKY. I love to read his biography. I sincerely believe LKY has done things which he strongly believe is good for Singapore. Though advance in his time, he has foresight.
What government has done for the country, what the people wants from the Government or so-called "civil servants". At certain stage in time, I felt they are slightly arrogant and losing touch with the ground feeling. Singaporean might felt they are foreignlise and somehow they are second-class citizen. Too much talk about the important of FT. It's just like parent telling you day in day out, you have to understand that we should take care of the adopted children (without saying you are "Singaporean first"). You felt poorer, living in this rich little city state which you grow together since young or your predecessor has contributed.
I think the Government has heard the people's concerns and arresting it face-on, though it might not solve all the problems at once or immediately. The HDB is launching 50,000units in year 2011, "Controlling and validating contributing" Foreign Talents or immigration issue, University expanding another 2000places. At the sametime, assuring the MNC than Singapore's policy is predictable and consistent. It's a balancing act in the making, no small task. The term "Singaporean first" is thus created. Someone on the Internet has asked, who are classify as "Singaporean" ?
Medical cases seem to be discussed but somehow there isn't any particular concrete plan about keeping medical cost lower. Though you have mentioned bring the benefit to elder from 65 down to 40, quoting people with stress and heart disease. Is medical cost affordable as PM stated? Would love to hear more about these topics in days to come.
Jurong caven, being a civil engineer, engineering contruction underground interest me. This particular news is already reported on Taiwan newspaper the following day newspaper. It mentioned the important of Petro-Chemical huge contribution to SG's GNP. Black gold under the surface in Singapore, when price of gold is jacking higher. This will keep investors happy and continuously pouring money in island city, keeping jobs. MNC's CEO are our food-givers, they have the chance to speak personally to the PM.
PM mentioned about the case of a mother greeting him "Good Morning" during the evening hour while having his meet-the-people session. I think the mother should also think likewise, PM is also working long hours too. Greeting him Good Evening will be in order but I think she is exhausted.
However, I am curious what if the mother only approaches the NTU administrative herself. Will she get the same result without a simply "concern" letter from PM to NTU. Having been in the service industry, we know there is always a different compliant from email and a "concern" phonecall from the "Management 高層". It makes total difference.
I think mother of University-going children will be thinking of moving to PM's constituency, prehaps, his constituency will see property price hike after this National Day Rally. If you want your children to enter Singapore University, the chance seem to be greater if you are located at his constituency. In the army, just look at the number of crab on the shoulder. Who can ignore those Crabs, sorry its Stars.
My conclusion, it makes a different when you appeal to the MP. Especially, he is the PM of Singapore. Who can disagree?

Singapore National Day @ Taiwan 2011
The mood went "wild" when the birthday cake is presented and people spontaneously starts singing the National Anthem right here in Taiwan.
An unique 爆漿(紅糖)包子hands on making activities. Everyone has their imagination, making all typs of shape and sizes. Each person is entitled two dough and its nosiy, people is just too engrossed in getting the bet round shape.
Haven't has such fun doing self-made candle. Its pretty interesting to know the process/technique of candle making. The mould, the source material, melting, cooling, crafting and even putting LED lighting.
You are given the creativity to insert different colour of small candle block into the Scupture mould. Starting with white colour one initial, especially those for figuring head (you don't want the head to be too dark). Thereafter, it's free for all to you imagination, dfferent colors. Give enough air pocket for next stage of HOT Liquid wax to seal all the air pocket and melting the candle block.

Dunearn Secondary School 德能中學1976-1979
Has very little record of my life during Secondary schooling at Dunearn Secondary School, hide behind a top Telecom building along Dunear road. That's how the school got it name. We are in fact, surrounded by many preimum school, like Chinese High, National Junior College and Hwa Chong Junior College. Well I ended up at Singapore Polytechnic due to my first language. Still speaking hokkien, though my Mardarin is pretty OK. Anyway, Dunearn Secondary has given way to the new development National Junior college. Times flies. The stairs up to the workshop, which is nearer to Dunearn Secondary Technical School higher up the hill. It reminded me about the stair we have to climb during my UNI days at Nanyang campus.

Bring the gang of 4 (Siew Moi, Chan, Lew, Douglas) to凌夏 Night market for makan, Oyster cake they like it, 再來一盤豬肝及腰子. Also goes to 鬍鬚張 for the Taiwanese local dish 滷肉飯and desert.
Douglas and Chan visited our home on Monday night and we have a nice time chatting over.

Punggol MRT - LRT PE4 Riviera, cross the Punggol East Road, walk towards the Chinese Temple.
Guess the only way by Foot is Acces from Rivera LRT station in blue circle and head towar the river direction/ The eatry around the area seem to be new and pretty interesting place, another alternative to makan at East Coast.

The "Hard Truths" about life from LKY.
Prehaps, aging makes reading the book much closer to owns life. Appreciate what MM Lee has done for Singapore from his earlier days till this days..year 2011.
He mentioned the less know case about the Military paratroop landing excerise (Malayisa and Indonesia @ Johor area, what happen when they miss the landing and divert to ....) during Singapore National Day period. SAF was activate then. I guess it helps the younger generation realising the ups and downs of neighbour's relationship.
One sentence catches my eye....Water issue has been on his mind from day one.....Its a tough job to resolve a long-term issue and always worrying about the possibilities. Until someone invented NEWWATER.
May be the technology will plays a part in our dependency on water. But the most important is, people must be able to dream of the possibilities. Just like landing on the moon. Water dependency will not be existence one of this days in the future, though may be not in my lifetime. I won't be around to see year 2061 when the next water agreement expired. But wondering about Malaysian water flowing into the sea/ocean, since Singapore is not buying it anymore. Will Johore be buying water from Singapore then.
May 6, 2011 - Start reading the section about genetic influence. Remember years back when MM Lee talks about University graduate marriage, etc. Reading his interview shows that he is fully submit to the idea of good gene in getting the best IQ childs. I guess being at his position, he has to made the choice. But I think people on the street will goes other ways, eg, love and life. In a way, it might be tough to be in the political arena where all actions is under the microscope. Remember the time when PM Lee's wife passing away, his private life is under the microscope. Carrying reading the book.........excited about the coming GE too. Though I missed the chance of doing so for so many years...District 10 lah...always walkover.

Wonder how many people below 30years old knows where is the so-called National Theatre. Anyway, my conclusion about the book. Basically, governing is difficult in the sense you can't make everybody happy and you have to worry about country's future well ahead of your time. One paragraph/experience catches me. When LKY went to foreign land. He said, it's not the scenery thats important but talking to the host is more important (he is always learning on the move), like asking why Cars is queuing at be checked. Answer is: checking the emission level or pollution to environment. It has important implication, Singapore car can only last 10years and required annual check for old car. This reduces the emission level and keeping Singapore's to an acceptable level. I say LKY is an very observance person and asked penetrating questions. He has many empirical formula to life, which in most case difficult to swallow for most people. Like, high IQ marry the IQ to produce the high IQ children, graduate mother having more children, etc.
I sincerely believe LKY think for the good of Singapore above all.
